July 2008

In May, we toured for How to Be Bad—approximately eight gazillion cities in three weeks.
In Thousand Oaks, Lauren stuck her heiney in a bookstore shopping cart and couldn’t get out.

Sarah got a speeding ticket in Gainesville.
E. threw up in Atlanta.
Lauren mowed someone’s lawn in Elmhurst.

We sang songs from The Sound of Music with three evil cousins in Berkeley.
We tried to eat plastic grapes in San Francisco.

We were on the news in Denver. On Long Island, we were on the radio. In Chicago, we bought Chanel makeup and stalked Oprah.
We wrote on the walls in San Jose.
We had a pizza party in Naperville.
In LA, we met TV stars. . .and were chased by a bounty hunter.
In Petaluma, a bookstore made a Waffle House for us. (Um, why, you wonder? ’Cause the girls in How to Be Bad work together at the Waffle House restaurant.) Here we are in our Waffle House hats:

Meanwhile, HarperTeen's “First Look" readers posted their reviews of How to Be Bad and we chose a few of our favorites to share:

I love that this reader couldn’t put the book down:

"This book was amazing! I literally read this book in two days. What I really liked about this book is by the end of the road trip each one of the girls changed in some way. They found things out about each other they never would have known if they weren’t together. I definitely want to read past and future books from each of the three authors."
—Tyeler (Coshocton, OH)

This one was my favorite, because I felt like the reader who wrote it really understood the soul of the story:

"Reading about a budding, steadfast friendship among three girls was a fun, uplifting experience. I would definitely suggest that this should be at the top of everyone’s summer reading list. Real girls, real issues, and real ways to handle them; this book is one of those adventures I always wanted to go on."
—Sarah (Greensboro, NC)

I like this one because it talks about appreciating your friends—which is what How to Be Bad is really all about:

"Amazing. One of the best books I have ever read. It will make you appreciate your friends so much more and make you want to go take a road trip."
—Ariel (Winston-Salem, NC)

Since then, we’ve been blogging and generally misbehaving—and above all, delving into summer reading. Isn’t that the best part of July? Here are our blogs:
