A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster.

If you're a fan of fairy-tales, especially Beauty & the Beast, you'll love this reinvented, modernized version! A fully-fleshed out beast and a much more beautiful beauty (on the inside, that is) make this novel truly awe-inspiring. It's one of those books you love with a passion and can't wait to delve into again!

I couldn’t put it down. I read it in three days. Beastly is a very good retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Yet it’s told from the beast’s point of view. It’s pretty much the Beauty and the Beast story line but it’s told in a more modern time. Some things are a told a bit differently then you expect but it makes it and awesome book! Alex Flinn did a great job with this book. And I would recommend this book to anyone that likes the Beauty and the Beast story.

Beastly is an excellently woven tapestry of fantasy, romance, and current teen issues. Flinn deftly takes a vibrant, modern day setting and blends it flawlessly with variations of the original Beauty and the Beast story. What's created in the process is a completely unique world filled with characters you will both love and hate - but for all the right reasons. As the story progressed, I was turning pages almost faster than I could read them, and upon reaching the end I was left with a sense of both loss and hope - loss that the Beast's story was finished and hope that Flinn might offer more fairy tales in the future.

I really loved this book. The mix of that old fairytale into NYC was amazing and it had just the right amount of mystery. Kyle Kingsbury's story was really well written and his path towards growing up and really seeing how beastly he was inside was done really well. It is a fantastic Beauty and the Beast story that really puts forth a great message. It was very intriguing and it really is one of those books you can't put down. People of all ages will love this magical fairy tale.

You know Alex Flinn did her homework for IBEASTLY from the first scene, in which a chat room serves as a clever device to unite urban fairy tale characters. This love of the classic form Flinn is drawing upon adds much to the novel. Kyle's narration is spot-on, from his unthinking cockiness to his slow realization of true relationships. Kendra is also perfect as the witch, with a motive that makes her sympathetic and real instead of a throwaway plot device. If you're looking for a nice story to relax, check out IBEASTLY, an excellent example of what modern fairy tales should be.
