Drew Lawson knows basketball is taking him places. It has to, because his grades certainly aren't. But lately his plan has run squarely into a pick. Coach's new offense has made another player a star, and Drew won't let anyone disrespect his game. Just as his team makes the playoffs, Drew must come up with something big to save his fading college prospects. It's all up to Drew to find out just how deep his game really is.

Game by Walter Dean Myers is about a young, black high-schooler who lives in Harlem living the good life as a black teen. The most important thing to him is basketball or what we call it "game" His dream was always to play in the NBA and this book shows how much care he puts into trying out for the NBA in his own high school. I think this book shows a teen how to strive for what you want and never give up. I have already told my teacher about it and she thinks it sounds absolutely fantastic!

I haven’t read anything quite like this before. I never really cared about basketball…but Myers takes you on the court, begins to help you understand the subtlety of the game, and I began to respect basketball as an intricate, even sophisticated, game. But Game is more than just the basketball makes us play and live with his players. This book has a lot to say about how to play our lives. Myers has the story told by a kid who is excellent on the court, but he likes to play his own game. He thinks he has to be in there all the time for the team to win and doesn’t understand that the game—any game, including life—has to be played with others in order for anyone’s game to be successful.
