Naomi Shihab Nye is a true poet, and you can see that in the way she wrote each chapter. I think the quote in the front by Bill Moyers describes this book perfectly. "...Nye writes of ordinary things - things we take for granted..." Each story was unique, and some hit home for me. It's one of those books where you want to dog ear your favorite pages. A very inspiring book. She wrote simply, but her stories sent out a strong message.

This amazing novel makes you want to hail a taxi just for conversation. Naomi Shihab Nye tells the amazing tales of how cars and cabs can truly alter you look on life. Although each tale could stand alone, together they make up one of the most powerful books I have ever read. This collection has happy, sad, silly, and serious moments. To be cliché you’ll laugh, cry, and get some serious goose bumps. I have nothing but good things to say about this amazing work of art Naomi Shihab Nye has put together.

I absolutely loved this book. Since I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. It made me want to travel the world more then I already do. It made me want to talk to every random person on the street and find out their story. It made me want to be a better person. Though there were times were the wording was confusing, and I had to go back and read it again, I found this book truly fascinating. It’s amazing just how many awesome stories you can gather by just listening to taxi drivers. There are some chapters in this book I know will never leave me either, particularly the ‘Gifts’ one and ‘Lending Library’. Amazing.

I'll Ask You Three Times, Are You Okay? is full of insight that most of us overlook because we are too busy to see it in the world around us. Naomi Shihab Nye just happens to enjoy the ride that we all know as life. Her many stories of taxi rides and drivers show us that everyone is unique, and that seeing the good in people is more important than where we end up.
