The Summoning

My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.
All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me.
Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

Reader Reviews from First Look
To say that The Summoning is hugely entertaining is simply not enough. I loved this book! The execution of the characters, plot, and overall package is perfect. I was left with my mouth hanging open, practically drooling for the sequel. The best thing to do is read it yourself. Then you'll see what I mean.

This book was gripping, mysterious, and I could not put it down! Armstrong paints a terrifyingly dark picture. I cannot wait for the next installment of the Darkest Powers series!

The Summoning is a fabulous young adult debut by Kelley Armstrong. I found Chloe easy to relate to as well as root for. This book is filled with twists and turns in every chapter and is definitely not for the faint of heart. I cannot wait for the sequel and to find out what happens after the fantastic cliffhanger.

The Summoning was an amazing book. I was in love with it from the beginning and I could not put it down. It has adventure, romance, rivalry, secrets, mystery and a lot more that will keep you wanting more. This book has a lot of twists and turns that will keep the reader involved in the book. A word I would pick to describe this book would be gripping; you will not be able to put this book down!

For Kelley Armstrong's first teen book, she did not disappoint. The Summoning was everything a young adult “supernatural” book should be. It had suspense, murder, dead bodies being brought back to life, and even some romance. Once you finish this book the author will leave you craving for more; I know I did. I'm definitely looking forward to the next release in this trilogy.

The Summoning is a great start to Kelley Armstrong's first fantasy trilogy. From the first chapter to the last, I was gripped and had to keep reading to find out what happened, and now that it is over, I cannot wait for the next one! Chloe is a likable heroine and you sympathize with her fear and confusion over what is wrong with her and her battles to understand herself and the people around her. Armstrong's next book in the trilogy is eagerly awaited!
Marissa (Monee, IL)
Absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, the reader is drawn in, and it just keeps getting better. This book is so well-written it feels like the reader is actually there. It's one of those books that can't be put down; one that makes the reader scream for more at the end. Definitely recommended to those who enjoy the Stephanie Meyer books-this book's even better.

The Reckoning
My name is Chloe Saunders. I'm fifteen, and I would love to be normal. But normal is one thing I'm not. For one thing, I'm having these feelings for a certain antisocial werewolf and his sweet-tempered brother—who just happens to be a sorcerer—but, between you and me, I'm leaning toward the...
