The heroine is strong and believable, and the romantic tension is through the roof without resorting to smutty scenes. Add in a twist of faerie royalty, magic, deadly competition, and a few excruciating plot twists, and you’ve got a great book.

This book is awesome! The writing is amazing and all the characters feel real. No one in the book was black and white. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr was an intriguing read that kept me hooked to the last page and wanting more. I loved the tenacity of Aislinn as she tries to escape her destiny, and in the end, makes her destiny fit to her. Also, the romantic aspect of the story made it wonderful, because every girl experiences having to choose between what she wants and what fate, or parents, throws at her.

I quickly realized while reading this book that it was unlike any other I had ever read. The plot was very unique and fantastical. I read the book in two days. I could not put it down. I related to Aislinn because she is a teenage girl just like me dealing with much of the same problems. (Of course I cannot see faeries...)I could not wait to see the outcome of the unfolding events. I enjoyed the story because it was very well written. There was a surprisingly clear picture in my mind of all the characters and the events taking place because Melissa Marr's descriptive detail was exceptional. At the end of the book all I could think was, "I sure hope there's a sequel."
