Declare Yourself’s goal is to get every American between the ages of 18 and 29 to register, vote, and be involved with the political process. Of course, you already know this is
important, but a little inspiration never hurt. So now, celebrated Americans—from Adrian Grenier to
Amber Tamblyn to Alice Walker to
Hayden Panettiere—are sharing with us their personal reasons and motivations for voting. Guest edited by actress America Ferrera, this collection of more than fifty essays and unique pieces will explore topics ranging from
“The First Time I Voted” to “Why the Personal is Political,” all straight from the pens of public figures you know and love. Read it—and then join them! Declare yourself.
Declare Yourself is a national nonpartisan, nonprofit campaign founded by
Norman Lear. They have one ultimate goal: to energize and empower every eligible 18-year-old in the United States to register and vote in the 2008 presidential election. And they are already well on their way — in the 2004 and 2006 elections, they registered more than one million young voters! With actresses America Ferrera and Hayden Panettiere as their spokespeople, Declare Yourself is making its voice heard with a simple yet important message: REGISTER and VOTE!
