Rob Reger and Emily are similar in many ways, including:
1. Emily’s cat Sabbath is based on and named after Rob’s (R.I.P.) kitty, Sabbath.
2. Rob creates and performs on custom home-made and strangely tuned instruments: including 3 stringed guitars and branch harps. Check out his band, Thuja.
3. Rob is a part-time inventor, when the need arises. Patent pending!
4. Rock ’n’ roll changed Rob’s life. For good. . .or for bad, depending on how you look at it.
5. Rob and Emily were both cats in past lives.
6. Rob lives happily with 2 kitties, Luca and Lupa, the latter representing the 13th zodiac sign (according to Emily’s Horrorscope that is).
7. Rob, like Emily, loves putting things together that don’t normally belong together. . .sometimes just to see what happens, and sometimes to bring new life to an otherwise mundane "something-or-other.”
8. Rob also has magical “endless” pockets. “Anyone need a piano tuner? No problem, got one right here!”
9. They both wake up in the same outfit they had on the day before. . .Day after day!
10. They both love to draw and paint cats, kitties, and all feline friends. No, not paint on them! Rather, renditions and re-creations of them.
11. Rob has a self-built Victorian greenhouse where he leaves the “meat eating” to his carnivorous plants. What he covets, though, is Emily’s patented Sun Spigot™.
12. They both listen to Ozzy, Minor Threat, Ornette Coleman, and Neil Diamond. . .and not just for the music!
13. They both advocate for others to Get Lost, which is both an invitation to explore one’s unique creative spirit and an invitation to take a hike.

13 things co-author Jessica Gruner wants you to know:
1. Jessica frequently has close encounters with hummingbirds. At times she suspects she may be a hummingbird.
2. She wrote a book about rocks when she was like 5 or so. In it, she speculated that there MIGHT be over 1,000 rocks in the world. No, not types of rocks. Individual rocks.
3. She has two of the largest, funniest, snuggliest, most symmetrical cats on earth: a chubby tabby named Damo Jerusalem of Whitney, and an all-white cat named Miles Lavender Chan-Chan of Cotton. Emily has a cat named after him. . .
4. Jessica also has several pet chickens named after Battlestar Galactica characters.
5. Like Emily, Jessica is a chronic over-punctuator!!!!!!
6. Jessica has obsessive tendencies and is very thankful that they don’t (currently) interfere with her life.
7. It’s a shame that her obsessive tendencies don’t involve obsessively cleaning the house. She lives in semi-pestilence until right before the guests arrive.
8. Jessica and Emily agree on good music (Black Sabbath, the Stooges, Miles Davis, the New York Dolls, Jimi Hendrix, the Cramps, the Misfits...) and bad music (Hoopy Jankers and the Goodtime Belly Bouncers).
9. Jessica thinks the best songs to sing at karaoke are “Urgent,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “Brand New Key,” and “Keep on Running.”
10. The other books she’s working on are about A) triplets and the end of the world, B) a snow planet, and C) an office building that has its own lymphatic system.
11. She taught high school English for four years in San Francisco.
12. And was the teacher most likely to be dressed all in black.
13. If Jessica had Emily’s inventing skills, she’d already own the patent on duplication, invisibility, perpetual motion, time travel, AND teleportation devices!!!! Bwuahh hahha hahhahhah!
