Enchanting Introductions
Laurel:
Raised as an only child, after being dropped off in a basket on her parents’ doorstep at the age of three, Laurel is independent, soft-spoken, pretty, and, well, unique. Laurel’s always been a little different—eating only fruits and vegetables, preferring to be outside in tank tops regardless of how cold it is—but it isn’t until she wakes up with a bump on her back that she begins to understand her destiny as a faerie. With the help of her friend David, she sets off on an adventure to discover who she is, meets the charming Tamani, and learns what she must do to keep the gateway to the faerie realm safe. Fortunately, she isn’t too busy fighting trolls to find time for a little romance along the way.
David:
Attractive and athletic, yet a bit of a science nerd, David is crushed on by many but only has eyes for Laurel. What begins as David helping Laurel in science class leads to him devising “tests” to determine exactly who, or what, Laurel is. Part boyfriend, part best friend, David is Laurel’s confidant and the only person she trusts with her faerie secrets—that is, until she meets Tamani..
Tamani:
Charming and handsome, Tamani is the faerie sentry in charge of guarding Laurel while she grows up. However, his interest in her well-being is more than strictly professional—Laurel and Tamani have a shared past, and Tamani has spent the twelve years waiting for Laurel to return to Avalon and to him. After reuniting, Laurel is immediately drawn to Tamani and the answers he holds to her identity. As they fight to keep the trolls from gaining access to Avalon, Laurel finds it harder and harder to see Tamani only as a friend.
Chelsea:
Always saying exactly what’s on her mind, Chelsea is the precocious addition to Laurel and David's group of friends. While Chelsea’s penchant for honesty can occasionally make Laurel uncomfortable, Chelsea’s loyalty and devotion make her an irreplaceable friend to both Laurel and David—although she does wish she and David were more than friends...
Barnes:
When Barnes makes an offer to Laurel’s parents for their old house, Laurel feels unsettled by his aggressive nature. However, it isn’t until Laurel begins to learn more from Tamani about the importance of the gate he guards that she realizes Barnes has more than just a passing interest in gaining ownership over it. When Laurel’s dad becomes suspiciously ill, she realizes the frightening lengths Barnes will go to get what he wants—and what she must do to stop him.
